Remove pump repair costs from your budget while preserving aquatic life and their habitat

BearsPaw Separators means the relief from pump damage that could cost $50,000 for truck pumps or $4,000 for portable high-pressure fire pumps, plus downtime. Fire drafting challenges in shallow areas with Vortexes, sand, weeds, debris, etc. disappear. Hence the nickname: The Ultimate Portable Dry Hydrant… for safe drafting from natural sources & shallows!

Separators perform where strainers can’t.

Q & A

The traditional use of suction strainers for pump protection in rural and wildland fire drafting has resulted in major dollars being spent to repair damage or repair fire pumps plus the resulting downtime.

Typical comments we have heard are it’s simply a cost of operation or we have always done it this way” … resulting in ever-increasing budgets and operating costs for the fire fighting industry.

Good news! There is now a new technology that will stop the carnage of fire pumps from occurring… it’s called BearsPaw Separators – The Ultimate Portable Dry Hydrant… For safe drafting from natural sources & shallows without Vortexes.

Strainers protect pumps from larger debris but still allow sand, pebbles, and debris to go through to the pump causing wear and tear, while weeds and debris, if present, can suffocate the intake of water flow, leading to cavitation and damage to the pump. To help alleviate the potential damage to the pump, the suction strainers need to be suspended at least 24″ (60 cm) above the sand or gravel, & 18″ (45 cm) below water level.

Separators (patented technology) function while resting on sand and gravel in all depths, even in less than 10″ (25 cm) as it instantly separates the debris from the water and won’t allow anything but water into your pump. This process eliminates excessive wear or serious damage to pumps, that normally results in down time with costly repairs or replacement.

The bottom line is that the effectiveness of pump protection (for Cavitation, sand, pebbles, weeds & debris) offered by Separators is revolutionary in comparison to that of a strainer, especially when used in shallow natural water sources. So, Separators save you money while strainers cost you money in repairs and for premature replacement of pumps plus downtime.

NO. Separators are designed to simply rest on the bottom of the water source in gravel & sand while flowing clean (safe) water to the pump.

That depends on your circumstances. A few questions to first contemplate:

  1. Do you draft from natural sources (rivers, creeks, ponds, swamps, etc.)?
  2. Do you use dry hydrants?
  3. Do you have water sources that you’re unable to currently draft from due to low water levels or risk of pump damage?
  4. Do you draft from natural sources at night?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you could benefit significantly from using BearsPaw Separators.

We offer a 2-year warranty with a 120-day money back guarantee standard on all products.

“Drydrant” is a word we coined to describe BearsPaw Separators. It is derived from “Dry Hydrant” which is a costly and permanently installed access to a static water source.

Separators are, however, portable and therefore we refer to them as “Portable Dry Hydrants” or “Portable Drydrants”.
